SolarBatteryTips.com is owned by Rick Laughhunn, a Licensed Master Electrician in Texas. This policy covers what data the site collects, how it's used, and how you control it.
What we collect
- Email address when you subscribe or register for the forum. Optional at all other times.
- Display name if you register for the forum.
- IP address hash (one-way SHA-256) for rate-limiting signups. We do not store raw IPs.
- Server access logs kept for 30 days for debugging + abuse prevention.
- No third-party trackers are set by this site at publication of this policy.
How we use your email
- Send the weekly “field notes” newsletter (+ the initial welcome + up to 3 drip emails after signup).
- Reply to forum posts when you've opted into reply notifications.
- Send purchase confirmation + download links if you buy a digital product.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your email with third parties.
How to unsubscribe or delete your data
- Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link (CAN-SPAM).
- To delete your account or all stored data, email rick@solarbatterytips.com. We process deletion requests within 7 days.
- Forum posts: on deletion we anonymize your display name rather than remove the content, to preserve the thread for future readers. Request full removal via email if you prefer.
Payment processing
Digital product purchases are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. Stripe's privacy policy applies to card data handling.
Affiliates
Some product links are affiliate links (clearly disclosed on each page). Clicking an affiliate link may set a first-party cookie on the destination retailer's site. We receive commission information (anonymized) from those retailers; we do not receive your purchase details.
